SEAOHUN Small Grants Program 2022

SEAOHUN Small Grants Program 2022Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN), established in late 2011 with the support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is the regional network of 95 universities in 8 Southeast Asian countries working together to develop a resilient and competent One Health workforce to effectively prevent, detect and respond to infectious disease threats by leveraging education, research, and training excellence provided by member universities. SEAOHUN advocates the role of universities to a) build the capacity of professionals across sectors to solve complex One Health issues, b) conduct research for evidence-based decision making, and c) assist governments with public health surge capacity.
The SEAOHUN Small Grants Program, launched in July 2020, aims to support in-service health professionals and faculty members in the development of research and training that can have high impact. It is expected that small grants will catalyze innovative field research, curriculum development, and training implementation. This initiative provides critical support for member countries’ activities to advance One Health agendas in respective countries. In addition, it strives to foster multisectoral and multidisciplinary collaboration, as well as cooperation across SEAOHUN member Universities and government agencies of member countries. The proposals can touch upon the broad spectrum of ideas related to the One Health approach, enabling better response to the increasingly complex dilemmas at the convergence of animals, humans, plants, and the environment.
In SEAOHUN 2020 Small Grants Program, eight projects from seven countries were supported. In SEAOHUN 2021 Small Grants Program, thirteen projects from six countries were supported through the USAID OHW-NG project and the FAO “Catalyzing innovative field researches and pilot projects that advance training and education on prioritized One Health core competencies and technical skills” project.
